‘Baagh Bikhar Gaya’ or ‘The Garden Scattered’ series: 2014
It is a fact of life and intention of Nature that when the young ones grow up, the family nucleus loosens its hold and the young move away. In the human family as in other forms of Nature, the children as they grow up, leave their erstwhile home for further studies or to seek work. Very often, they settle down elsewhere with a spouse and raise their own family, which becomes their new nucleus. The parents left behind, aging, decrepit and lonely, live on till Nature’s call.
Having reached this stage of life myself, and feeling acutely the phenomena of family transfiguration, I tried to depict it in my own way through painting and prints, the pathos and the multiple feelings.
